Standing Room areas at Petco Park

Posted in 2026 in

Standing Room Only (SRO) tickets are the cheapest way into Petco Park. But “standing room” at Petco actually means two different things, and it’s worth knowing which is which before you buy.

Two Kinds of Standing Room at Petco Park

1. The SRO ticket itself — At Petco Park, this means Gallagher Square. Lawn-seating ticket, general admission, no assigned spot. That’s the only proper SRO ticket the Padres sell.

2. Standing destinations any ticket can access — Multiple bars and gathering spots around the ballpark where any ticket holder can hang out, drink, and watch from. You don’t need an SRO ticket to use these. You just need to be in the park.

The SRO Ticket: Gallagher Square

Gallagher Square is Petco Park’s 2.8-acre lawn behind the outfield. Bring a blanket, spread out, watch the game on the giant video screen. The most affordable way to bring a family to a Padres game.

  • Price: $30–$65 (full pricing details)
  • Best for: Families with kids, big groups, casual fans
  • Listed as: “PATP,” “PATP1,” or “Gallagher Square” depending on vendor
  • View: Partial field, full video board (see what you’ll see)

Other Standing Destinations (Any Ticket Gets You In)

If you have any ticket at Petco — sit-down section, club seat, or SRO — these spots are open to you. Wander in, grab a drink, watch from somewhere different for an inning or two.

Western Metal Supply Co. Building

The historic Western Metal Supply Co. building is built into the left field corner of the ballpark. Standing room on multiple levels, rooftop views overlooking left field, bar access, and Padres history displays. One of the most iconic spots in the park to grab a beer and watch an inning.

AleSmith .394 (Section 217)

A standing-room bar area at Section 217, dedicated to local AleSmith Brewing’s San Diego Pale Ale .394 — named for Tony Gwynn’s career batting average. Good views, great beer, named after a Padres legend.

Craft Pier by Ballast Point

[NEEDS YOUR INPUT: I know this is referenced in MLB Padres materials as a standing/lingering destination, but I don’t have verified specifics on location or what’s there. Fill in.]

The Loft by Budweiser

[NEEDS YOUR INPUT: Same situation — mentioned in Padres materials as standing room. Need location and details.]

Concourse & Drink-Rail Spots

Throughout Petco Park you’ll find drink rails and standing room behind regular seating sections, along concourses, and around the various bars. Walk around — you’ll spot them.

SRO Tips

  • Arrive early for Gallagher Square — best spots on the hill fill up fast
  • Bring a blanket — no chairs allowed on the lawn
  • Comfortable shoes — you’ll be on your feet most of the game
  • Wander — your ticket gets you into the whole park; use it

Where to Buy SRO Tickets

SRO/Gallagher Square tickets are available through Padres.com and the Petco Park box office. For full Gallagher Square pricing, see our Gallagher Square tickets guide.
