Savannah Bananas in San Diego: March 2026

Posted in 2026 in

Look at any 9-year-old boy’s head and you will see — San Diego goes absolutely bananas for this event. After selling out Petco Park last September, the Savannah Bananas return for two nights of Banana Ball mayhem on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22, 2026. This time they’ll face the brand-new Loco Beach Coconuts as part of the expanded Banana Ball Championship League (BBCL) tour.

Saturday, March 21

  • Gallagher Square & Player Appearances: 2:00 PM
  • Before the Peel Show: 3:00 PM
  • All Other Gates Open: 4:30 PM
  • Show Starts: 6:30 PM

Sunday, March 22

  • Gallagher Square & Player Appearances: 10:00 AM
  • Before the Peel Show: 11:00 AM
  • All Other Gates Open: 12:30 PM
  • Show Starts: 2:30 PM

No re-entry. Once you’re out, you’re out.

The Ticket Situation

The official lottery closed in October. Tickets are now available through verified resale markets.

Pricing: Official tickets started at $35. Resale pricing varies by date and section.

VIP Banana Tour: A separate add-on ticket gets you a pre-game behind-the-scenes tour of areas normally off-limits to fans, finishing with the famous banana pudding and first crack at merchandise. You need both a game ticket and a tour ticket for the same date. Worth it if you want more than just your seat.

Digital Tickets

How you access your ticket depends on how you bought it:

  • Banana Ball lottery tickets are on the FansFirst platform and become available for download to your mobile wallet 72 hours before first pitch. Log into your ticket account and add all tickets to your wallet before you leave home.
  • Padres Season Ticket Member presale / suites / hospitality tickets are in the MLB Ballpark app.

Transfer tickets to everyone in your party in advance so each person has their own on their phone. Lines at the gates move much faster this way.

Banana Ball: The Rules You Need to Know

This isn’t your grandfather’s baseball. If you don’t know the rules, you’ll be confused by the chaos:

  1. Every Inning Counts: It’s a point-based system. Win the inning (more runs), win the point.
  2. Two-Hour Time Limit: No new inning starts after 2 hours. The game moves fast.
  3. No Bunting: Bunt and you’re ejected.
  4. No Walks: Ball 4 triggers a “Sprint” — the batter runs until every defensive player touches the ball.
  5. Fan Outs: Catch a foul ball in the stands and the batter is out. Bring your glove.
  6. Showdowns: Ties are settled with 1-on-1 pitcher vs. batter showdowns.

What to Eat: Banana Ball Specialty Menu

Petco Park put together a dedicated Banana Ball menu for these two games. A lot of it is genuinely worth seeking out — especially if you’re willing to walk to find it.

Entrees & Shareables

Havana Banana Pork Sandwich — Roasted plantains, mojo pork, smoked ham, crispy onions, Swiss cheese, and jalapeño aioli on a potato roll. Find it at Seaside Market (Section 105).

Plantain Nachos — Crispy plantain chips with peach salsa. A solid shareable. Available at Seaside Market (Section 105) and the Section 100 portable.

Banana Pizza — Grilled peach, stracciatella, prosciutto, pistachio, hot honey, arugula, and Aleppo pepper. One of the more interesting items on the menu. At Gelati and Peccati (Section 102).

Desserts

Loconut Donuts — Mini Donut Company donuts with pineapple icing and toasted coconut. At the Mini Donut stand (Section 107).

Banana Pudding — Fresh bananas, hazelnut crumbles, whipped cream. Available at Seaside Market (Section 105). Also included in the VIP Banana Tour.

Banana Lumpia — Filled with chocolate, hazelnut, and mazapan butter, finished with horchata whipped crème. Available at Tony Gwynn Terrace Ballpark Eats (Gallagher Square) and Seaside Market (Section 105).

Drinks

Carajillo (Banana Twist) — A Spanish-style coffee cocktail with a banana-forward twist. Available at Karl Strauss, Pacifico, and Swinging Friar bars in Sections 110, 121, 122, 320, and Gallagher Square.

Banana Mudslide — Cutwater Banana Mudslide cocktail, same bar locations as above.

Loco Coco Lemonade — Coconut lemonade, non-alcoholic. At the VW Bus and all Pizza Port locations.

The Petco Park Experience

Gallagher Square (The Park at the Park): This is the Banana Zone. Player appearances start when Gallagher Square opens — 2 PM Saturday, 10 AM Sunday — and the Before the Peel Show kicks off an hour later. If you have a game ticket, Gallagher Square access is included; no extra purchase needed.

Bag Policy: Petco Park enforces a clear bag policy. Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and no larger than 12” × 6” × 12”. Purses and clutches no larger than 5” × 7” are also permitted. If your bag doesn’t fit the rules, the stadium has Lock & Go Lockers at $14 flat — located at the Balboa Gate, East Village Gate Box Office, Lexus Premier Lot, and at Tony Gwynn Dr. and L Street.

Parking: Padres lots open at noon on Saturday and 8 AM on Sunday for pre-purchased passes. Tailgating is not permitted in the Tailgate Lot for this event. Day-of parking is limited. View our Petco Park Parking Guide, or reserve in advance:

Traffic Warning — Saturday, March 21: The intersection at 16th Street and Imperial Avenue will be closed to all traffic from 6 AM to 6 PM. Plan an alternate route if you’re driving in from the east or using Imperial Ave to access downtown.

Skip the traffic entirely: the MTS Trolley (Green or Blue line) runs to Gaslamp Quarter and 12th & Imperial stations. Rideshare drop-off and pickup is at the designated zone near the Bayfront Hilton Hotel on Harbor Drive and Park Boulevard, with a sky bridge to the park.

Merchandise

If you’re planning to buy Banana Ball merch, the best move is to order online before the event — stadium lines are notoriously long and popular items go fast. That said, there’s an early merch opportunity on Friday, March 20 from 2–5 PM on the exterior of the East Village Gate — the night before the first game.

On event days, merchandise tents are set up inside and outside the ballpark. Stands on J Street open at 11 AM Saturday and 10 AM Sunday. Petco Park is cashless.

Pro Tips

  • Arrive early. The pre-game experience is half the show. Gallagher Square opens hours before first pitch and the Before the Peel Show is worth catching.
  • Dress the part. If you’re not in yellow or a banana suit, you’ll stand out in the wrong way.
  • Stay alert in the stands. Players move through the crowd throughout the game.
  • Bring your glove. Fan catches count as outs. You could literally change the game.
  • No re-entry. Plan accordingly — don’t leave unless you mean it.
