Barkyard Dog-Friendly Suites at Petco Park

Want to bring your dog to a Padres game? The Barkyard at Petco Park is the answer—but it’s a little different from what you might expect.

What Is the Barkyard at Petco Park, Really?

The Barkyard is Petco Park’s dedicated dog-friendly seating area, located in left-center field. Think of it less as a traditional luxury suite and more as a semi-private outdoor patio for you, your friends, and your dogs—with a baseball game going on in front of you.

There are five Barkyard viewing areas, and each accommodates up to four people and two dogs. The spaces have artificial turf, umbrellas for shade, and a relaxed backyard/patio feel that’s very different from ordinary stadium seating.

The view is from left-center field, so you’re not getting a premium behind-home-plate baseball view. The attraction is the experience: you can hang out with your dog in a dedicated space rather than trying to squeeze a dog into a regular stadium seat.

The Barkyard is available for Padres home games, subject to availability.

What You Need to Know Before Bringing Your Dog

The Barkyard is dog-friendly, not dog-anywhere-in-Petco-friendly. Dogs are restricted to the Barkyard and the designated pet-relief route; they can’t accompany you around the rest of the ballpark.

Here are the things I’d want to know before committing to a Barkyard game:

• Each Barkyard area includes four tickets for humans and allows up to two dogs.
• There is a one-dog-per-adult limit.
• Dogs must be registered in advance and meet the Padres’ vaccination requirements.
• Dogs must remain on a leash no longer than six feet.
• There’s a designated pet-relief area in Gallagher Square.
• The Barkyard is outdoors. Umbrellas provide shade, but this is not an air-conditioned suite.
• The artificial turf was selected with dogs in mind and is designed to be cooler than conventional artificial turf.
• If your dog is aggressive, excessively disruptive, or otherwise unable to handle the environment, the Padres can require you to leave.
• Don’t expect to roam Petco Park with your dog. The Barkyard is a specific dog-friendly zone within an otherwise non-dog-friendly ballpark.

For 2026, the Padres direct Barkyard guests with dogs to enter through the Gaslamp Gate on 7th Avenue.

Is the Barkyard Worth It?

If you’re imagining “regular Padres seats, but I get to bring my dog,” that’s not really what you’re buying.

The Barkyard makes more sense as a dog-friendly social experience that happens to include a baseball game.

It’s particularly appealing for a group of four with one or two dogs. If you’re a serious baseball fan who wants the best possible view of the game, there are better places to sit. If your priority is spending an afternoon or evening at Petco Park with your dog without constantly worrying about whether you’re breaking a ballpark rule, the Barkyard is a much more interesting proposition.

I’d favor an evening game over a hot afternoon game. The umbrellas help, but this is still an outdoor space in left field. San Diego may have perfect weather most of the year, but “dog-friendly” doesn’t mean “immune to heat.”

Barkyard vs. Bark at the Park

Don’t confuse the Barkyard with Bark at the Park. They’re two different ways to bring your dog to a Padres event.

• Barkyard: A dedicated dog-friendly viewing area available for Padres home games.
• Bark at the Park: A special promotional event where dogs are permitted in designated areas of the ballpark.

In other words: Barkyard = your dog’s own place to watch the game. Bark at the Park = a special dog-themed Padres event.

Both are fun, but they’re very different experiences.
