Which Padres seats are behind the safety nets?

It’s an age-old question: would you rather have a completely unobstructed view of the field or would you like some protection to searing 120-mph foul balls streaking straight for your beer belly.

Safety nets and protective screens at Petco Park are your friend. But sitting behind them should be a choice. Here are the sections at Petco Park where the seats may be fully or partially obscured behind safety netting and protective screening:
  • All Home Plate Club sections.
  • Field VIP 101-106.
  • Sections 109-110
  • Sections 111-115 (odd) on the first base side and Sections 112-116 (even) on the 3rd base side

About the Netting

The height of the netting varies. At its highest, the screen is 24 feet tall. The nets have a green tint to minimize the obstruction for fans. Fans have mixed feelings, as humans often do. Some worry about obstructed views and others fret over diminished odds of catching a foul ball.

Before the 2018 season, every stadium agreed to new MLB recommendations to expand protective netting. The Padres went even further, extending the netting three sections past the dugouts before it tapers down along each foul line.
