Padres Tailgate Lot

Tailgate Park is a 1,060-space parking lot adjacent to Petco Park designated for tailgating. It’s a far cry from the old 18,500 spaces at Qualcomm, but still adequately serves man’s primal need (and woman’s) to grill, socialize, and consume alcohol on asphalt before attending a sporting event.

Note: Tailgating is not always allowed at every event (for example it is not allowed before the Morgan Wallen concerts. Please check your event to be sure.

Prices are $21-$25 but subject to change (increase).

Where is Tailgate Park

Tailgate Park lot address is 200 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101. The parking lot’s location is bordered by Park Boulevard, 14th Street, K Street and Imperial Avenue.

Plans For Tailgate Park

The city sold the land, comprised of four city blocks east of Petco Park (5.25 acres) to a development team led by the San Diego Padres organization. The cost? A cool $35.1 million. The redevelopment plans will bring the East Village neighborhood 1,800 residential units (including 270 for low- and mid-income) 50,000 sq. feet of office and retail space, a 1.3 acre public park, and, of course… parking spaces! 1,200 to be exact, an increase of about 13%.

A lawsuit slowed progress here but the lot is still open and operational.

Tailgating

Tailgaters can begin the ritual 3 hours prior to the scheduled San Diego Padres game time up through the first 30 minutes of the game. No amplified sound, no throwing balls, frisbees, toys, scooters, skateboards, etc. In other words, let your lotmates tailgate in peace.

Tailgating is only allowed in Tailgate Park and is not permitted in any other garage or lot.

Alcohol Rules

Kegs and glass containers are prohibited. Repeat: no glass bottles allowed. Alcohol cannot leave the parking lot with you (i.e. no roadies). Only what fits in your belly. Speaking of which, you are going to want to keep this restroom locator handy!

Grills

Only gas grills are allowed. No charcoal grills.

Tailgating Before Concerts

Tailgating should not be assumed to be allowed before concerts at Petco Park. Please check with that specific event before whipping out the funnel and hoagie.

Groups

Space for tailgate parties can be reserved for groups, if you have a minimum of 10 vehicles (up to 100 are available.) To book at the group rate, call (619) 795-5010. You can also hold a spot and other benefits by purchasing group tickets.
