San Diego Padres fans, here is a resource for those visiting Petco Park who are searching for information on wheelchair access, handicap seating and other considerations for guests with disabilities. The Padres publish a guide as well which can be found here.

Parking

Accessible Parking: Parking downtown is always an ordeal but all Padres and Ace Parking Management lots provide designated parking spaces for guests with disabilities. Parking structures vary in price based on their convenience to Petco Park. But each one makes available a designated number of handicap spaces for guests with disabilities.

Seating & Tickets

Accessible Seating: Designated seats for guests with disabilities: Wheelchair Accessible, Semi-Ambulatory, and Transfer Seats. Companion Seats usually available. To purchase, call 619.795.5555. View Padres Seating Chart.

Convenience and ADA Power

Electrical Outlet Access: Outlets for recharging wheelchairs and equipment are available in accessible seating areas at Petco Park. Request when purchasing tickets. Ask any Guest Services Representative for assistance.

Getting Around

Shuttle Service: Complimentary shuttle for ADA needs. The shuttles provide transportation between the Padres Parkade, Tailgate Park, the MTS Garage and Petco Park. Text service available. Pickup at Home Plate Gate.

Wheelchair Service: Complimentary wheelchair escort service. Padres staff members are available to assist guests with disabilities, facilitating their movement between stadium gates and their designated ticketed seats. Wheelchair lifts are strategically placed throughout the ballpark.

Elevators & Escalators: Elevators and escalators throughout Petco Park for access. Priority for guests with special needs.

Service Animal Guidelines

Service Animals: Service animals are allowed inside Petco Park. U.S. ADA regulations permit disabled guests to use either a dog or horse trained to do work or perform tasks for the guest. Emotional support animals, companionship animals and good old pets are not allowed except on special occasions such as Bark At The Park and in the Padres Barkyard Suites.

Community Voices

Padres have a chance to assist fans with disabilities and set a national trend.
In an Opinion piece for the San Diego Union-Tribune, Alex Montoya writes:
“One of my favorite activities in life is being a San Diego Padres season ticket member. During Padres games, you can find me among the Friar Faithful in section 133 in right field. With two-time All-Star infielder Jake Cronenworth hitting many home runs out there, it is known as the “Crone zone.” Even better, as someone who wears three prosthetic limbs, including one on my leg, I don’t have to deal with stairs or minimal legroom. My pair of season seats are wheelchair ones with plastic folding chairs. I love those seats but know that members are regularly moved to sections different from their regular locations for opening day and postseason games. For example, I sat in three different sections during the 2022 postseason; all were still wheelchair sections.”
