Padres Peanuts Day

Posted in 2025 in

Why not, right? Because baseball and Peanuts go together like baseball and peanuts!

The San Diego Padres Peanuts Day is Sunday, September 14, 2025. The San Diego Padres will turn the visiting Colorado Rockies into a bunch of pigpens, a 1:10 day game.

This is a Theme Game, make sure you know what that means. The package will include a ticket to the Padres game, plus a Woodstock figurine in a hot air balloon. The day is to honor the 75th anniversary of the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. And if it sells out, you can be sure they’ll be back to honor the 76th anniversary next year!

Note: This is Labor Day!

Why the Peanuts

It is the perfect pairing, really. Both the comic strip and the game are slow, oddly philosophical, and quietly heartbreaking in a way you don’t notice until you’re driving home. Both are revered by your zaniest 70 year old relatives. Am I talking about Major League Baseball or the Peanuts when I say it is kids dreaming big, adults acting like kids, and everyone trying to make sense of the rules as they go. It’s all the waiting, the trying, the almosts, the “maybe next times.” Peanuts Day it’s about recognizing the quiet heroism of showing up, and for all the rich highs and lows that don’t show up in the scoreboard.
