The Padres face the Los Angeles Angels, an interleague regional rival of sorts. The two teams last played on September 8, 2021. San Diego Padres won the game, 8 to 5, but lost the series. Fun fact: the Padres and Angels are the only teams in California to originate from the state.

• It's a Day Game with a 3:40PM first pitch
• It's a rare Tuesday edition of Military Sundays, with a special Military Salute to Veterans planned.
• Pitcher Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to face Joe Musgrove
• There's a Theme Game package with a limited-edition Padres hat with red and blue stars and stripes logo
• It's the 4th annual Disc Golf Day: San Diego Aces Disc Golf Club and Innova Champion Discs helped put together a Theme Game package that includes a limited-edition Padres themed disc (handed out after the game)
• Since 2008, the Padres have taken the field on Independence Day wearing camo uniforms

Fourth of July Fireworks at Petco Park?

There is no fireworks display scheduled for after the game at Petco Park. However the Big Bay Boom fireworks show launches from four barges on San Diego Bay and is billed as “California’s Largest Fireworks Show.” Those fireworks, unafffiliated with the Padres and Petco Park, are scheduled to begin on July 4 at 9 PM. Check for other post-game fireworks on the schedule.
