Is Kanye West planning to perform a concert at Petco Park? No conclusive reason to believe this (yet?)
Rumors started with an Instagram Story Kanye allegedly posted on February 6, 2024 of a text exchange between him and rapper Freddie Gibbs:
“Somebody asked me do you want to do Petco Stadium in San Diego. They wanna set it up.”
“Yes I do,” West replied. “Who do I speak to?”
Freddie goes on to predict that the show would sell out like United Center, referring presumably to the Vultures Release Party, and that San Diego has “got all the plugs on lock”. He gives another nice compliment about San Diego but it uses the n-word. So let’s just say he say there are real fine folks down here.
Trouble Booking Stadiums
Kanye has recently spoken about about having trouble accessing larger venues
. The article speculates, “While Kanye West didn’t give a specific reason for why no other venue wanted to work with him, it would be safe to assume it has to do with the anti-semitism he has exhibited over the last year. Most recently, he was caught on camera going on another rant involving Hitler and Drake while in Las Vegas.”
World Tour ‘Plans’ for 2024-2025
Sources such as National World
are trying to put the pieces together. Other cryptic Instagram messages have alluded to interest in venues in Rio De Janeiro, Hong Kong’s Galaxy Arena, the Great Wall of China in Beijing and the Giza Pyramid complex in Egypt. So…
Rumors, Publicity and Trustworthy Narrators
While it is fun to follow the threads of the story, if there even is one, this is nothing more than hearsay and unconfirmed rumors at this point. Kanye has a well-documented history of newsworthy claims and reconsiderations, extending to topics as far-reaching as slavery, Hitler, White Lives Matter, Trump, Pete Davidson and the legitimacy of Taylor Swift’s VMA
. Let’s call it a “way with words,” which is the exact quality that makes him one of world’s best selling musical artists and a winner of 24 Grammy awards.
