San Diego is one of the country’s most desirable places to run a marathon. The terrain is not too hilly, the population is overall well-conditioned and the weather is not too shabby either. And if you are looking for a landmark to serve as a starting point or finish line for a marathon or other races in San Diego, you could do a lot worse than Petco Park.

San Diego Half Marathon and Padres 5k Sunday, March 15, 2020
The ninth annual San Diego Half Marathon and 5K, as well as a 2-person half marathon relay, all end at Petco Park. This year’s will showcase a Military appreciate theme. The scenic, half-marathon route follows Harbor Drive along Harbor Island, past the USS Midway aircraft carrier, through Liberty Station, Hillcrest, Balboa Park, downtown San Diego, finishing at beautiful Petco Park. The Padres 5K (3.1 miles) also finishes inside Petco Park.

Hot Chocolate 15K / 5K March 22, 2020
Also in its 9th year, the Hot Chocolate course is known as San Diego’s sweetest race. The 5k and 15k routes for the 2020 Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k San Diego start and end just a block from Petco Park, with a gluttony of sweet surprises along the way. Everyone wins! [Website]
