Padres Hockey Night and Michael King Hockey Jersey

Posted in 2026 in

Hockey Night is Saturday, July 11, 2026. The Padres host the Toronto Blue Jays.

This is a Theme Game, make sure you know what that means. The package includes a ticket to the Blue Jays vs. Padres game, plus a Michael King hockey jersey.

About the Jersey

Michael King, the Padres pitcher, gets his own hockey jersey as the giveaway. The jersey design merges baseball and hockey aesthetics. Limited to the first 40,000 fans who purchase the theme game package.

Hockey in San Diego

San Diego has had a complicated relationship with hockey. The San Diego Gulls have been the most consistent presence—the current iteration plays in the AHL as the Anaheim Ducks’ affiliate, skating at Pechanga Arena since 2015.

Before that, various leagues tried to make hockey work here. The original Gulls played in the WHL and IHL from 1966 to 1974. Later versions came and went through the 90s and 2000s. The San Diego Mariners had a brief run in the WHL in the mid-70s.

The city almost got an NHL team multiple times. In 1990, Disney considered San Diego before settling on Anaheim. More recently, efforts to bring the Coyotes here fell through.

Hockey doesn’t have baseball’s deep roots in San Diego, but there’s a loyal fanbase. The Gulls draw crowds, youth hockey programs exist throughout the county, and plenty of transplants from colder climates bring their hockey fandom with them.

This crossover night acknowledges that overlap—baseball fans who also follow hockey, or hockey fans curious about catching a game at Petco Park.
