The Padres are one of four MLB teams whose contracts with Diamond Sports may be rejected during bankruptcy proceedings, which are expected to be filed on March 17.
Diamond Sports, which operates as Bally Sports, holds broadcast rights to 14 MLB teams and is projected to lose $20 million annually on San Diego alone.
MLB is negotiating with cable companies for lower contracts in affected markets, and games could even be made available free of charge for a short time until these details are finalized.
Broadcast teams would likely remain in place, but this will vary depending on whether Bally announcers are team employees in different markets.
Currently, out-of-market games can be viewed through an annual subscription to the MLB.TV app, while Bally Sports charges $19.99 a month for its sports streaming packages.
Diamond operates 19 regional sports networks that hold the broadcast rights for 42 teams across MLB, the NBA, and NHL, accounting for approximately $1 billion in revenue.

If the game is blacked out in your area, you may need to use a virtual private network (VPN) or a DNS proxy service to bypass the blackout restrictions.
You can also use the app to watch highlights, view stats, and access other content related to the game.
Note: The MLB.TV app is not the same as the MLB Ballpark App
