The Padres will refund tickets for home games scheduled through May 31, or exchange for a later date.
There is no overarching MLB policy, or the policy is that each team can deal with coronavirus-related cancellations on its own.
At this time, no one has any clue when or if these games will ever be played. It’s hard to imagine at this point but 2020 is not a year to dismiss stranger things.
Says the Padres president of business operations, “We’re off the map right now.”
According to the San Diego local newspaper, the Padres generate an estimated $1 million per home game from gate receipts, and expect the MLB to start an abbreviated season by July.
