Who is Daniel Caesar

Daniel Caesar is a Canadian singer-songwriter who has made a significant impact in the music industry with his soulful R&B sound. Born to Caribbean parents and raised in Oshawa, a suburb near Toronto, Caesar was exposed to gospel music through his parents and his father’s regular performances at church. However, his musical influences expanded when he left home at the age of 17 and began exploring different genres while couch-surfing or sleeping on park benches.

Caesar’s breakthrough came in 2016 with his single “Get You,” featuring Kali Uchis, which gained immense popularity and has accumulated millions of streams on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. Prior to this, he had gained critical acclaim with his debut EP, “Praise Break,” in 2014, and followed it up with another EP called “Pilgrim’s Paradise” in 2015. During this period, he collaborated with local artist Sean Leon, who introduced him to producers Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett. They played a crucial role in shaping Caesar’s sound and introduced him to influential R&B artists like Jodeci and D’Angelo.
