In a developing situation ahead of the 2023 season, Diamond Sports Group is expected to file for bankruptcy this month, potentially affecting the Padres’ broadcast agreement. The group says broadcasts will not be affected. But the San Diego Padres are owed approximately $50 million from their agreement, and that is a lot of Dippin Dots. MLB has said that if Diamond does not pay, the contracts will be terminated and MLB will take over broadcast production. What form that takes is anyone’s guess, but broadcasts could shift to MLB.tv with reduced blackout restrictions.
