Braves' Andruw Jones hits Petco Park's longest homerun

- Digg - del.icio.us - Posted by San Diego Fan

Andruw Jones hit the longest homer ever at Petco Park, a 453-foot shot that went deep into the second deck in left-centre field, and three other Atlanta Braves connected in an 11-3 rout of the NL West-leading San Diego Padres in July 2006.

Jones nearly swung out of his spikes when he sent a 1-1 pitch from Chan Ho Park (6-5) rocketing into the second deck with one out in the fourth inning, his 22nd.

The previous longest homer at Petco, which opened in 2004, was 438 feet by San Diego’s Mark Bellhorn on May 28 against St. Louis. Atlanta’s Adam LaRoche hit a 437-footer on Friday night.
